Tragedy struck a woman who was already on the way to her ex-husband's funeral in North Carolina.

Pam Pritts was travelling with her current husband, Oran Ronald Pritts, 68, were both taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center after their SUV collided with an 18-wheeler.  Although Pam was released the next day Oran was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

According to a highway trooper the Pritts attempted to overtake the tractor trailer, driven by Kevin Lee Townsend, but then lost control. The two vehicles collided, sending the SUV into a guardrail and forcing it to overturn. Luckily for Townsend he suffered no injuries; both the Pritts were wearing their seat belts.

A woman passerby witnessed the car accident and stayed with Pam until emergency crews arrived to cut her out of the vehicle.
