Girl Attacked by Neighbors Dog in Nicholasville

A ten-year-old girl from Nicholasville is currently recovering after she was attacked by a neighbor's dog. Mariah Thomas was playing in front of her neighbor's house with friends when the dog got out of the backyard and attacked the little girl.

Mariah says she tried to stay clear of the dog, but he grabbed her by the leg. An adult reportedly tried to get the dog off of Mariah, but the dog got a hold of the little girl's arm before the adult could get him off. It ultimately took the adult hitting the dog with a scooter to get it to let go of Mariah.

The parents of the girl rushed her to a nearby hospital where she received fourteen stitches in her arm and another seven in her leg. The dog, a mixed-breed named Reno was taken into custody by animal control officers, and his fate will soon be determined by a judge. The dog's owner claims that Reno has never been aggressive and the he keeps the gate to his backyard locked at all times.
